But for Apple to make the most of its peerless products, experts say it will need to improve relations with the folks who create the content to run on them, especially after the series of spats that marked 2007.
Hasn't this been the truth for a long time?
Ummmm, no. But nice catch from Business Week anyway.

Wow, I feel like I just got patted on the head. LOL
Honestly I think that the Mac is great OS, and now with the oncoming Vista be ridiculously complicated, the time for MAC is now. However, so many apps don't play well with it. Part of that is the developers I'm sure, but again the proprietary nature of the Macintosh will always be problem in the business world.
But so many apps DO play nicely with Mac OS X. So I think the responsibility lies with the third party developers. From 1 person shops to large companies, some apps are indespensible and just brilliant. On the other hand, from 1 person shops to large companies, some apps are not worth the hard drive space they take up. Like Windows, what developers need to write well-crafted apps is available in spades. It is up to developers to use it.
At one time, the biggest developer of apps for the Mac was Microsoft. Since all they do is Office, I don't know if that is true anymore. But with Microsoft comes an equally proprietary approach to making software. You could just as easily say, "So many apps don't play well with Microsoft products." And you'd be right. Is it due to an anti-competitive strategy? Or is it laziness? Or is it a dysfunctional group developing making the products? Mac Office has been at times terrible and at times fantastic. You could say the same for Adobe, Quark, Corel and Macromedia (back when they weren't Adobe).
Certainly Apple need to try and got on with the content providers but in saying that they shouldn't bend over backwards for them. There needs to be give and take on both sides. Apple needs the content providers and the content providers need Apple.
